Programmer Jayenkai describes NeonPlat as "It's a bit Bubble Bobble, except it's not!" If you remember the eighties game featuring cute jumping dinosaurs and fruit, you'll notice NeonPlat features neither of those things!
It does however feature similar fast paced gameplay and lots of jumping and platforms. Unlike Bubble Bobble, this single room platformer features constantly moving platforms, which fly in from various directions, meaning your little neon guy exists in a world in flux.
There are balls littered around, which you can pick up automatically, and can throw with the Z key. The balls score points as they bounce along , and can also kill the enemies who will take away one of your three lives on touch. Kill an enemy, and it'll drop one of various power ups. You have to learn from experience what all of these do, much like the game itself, which is pretty much devoid of instruction. However, it's such a playable game, working it out is good fun, and the online score table gives you something to aim for.
NeonPlat is an addictive and unusual platformer that's really hard to put down! An incredible game, especially considering it's free!
